Rule #1 of Ms. Davis’ classroom
Today I received an email confirming things for my trip to Tulsa. In just a few weeks I will take another step toward my future. I’m ready to learn, ready to receive criticism, and most of all I’m ready to try my very best to give students an equal opportunity to achieve success through education. Pray for me, I’m desperately going to need all of your prayers.
Rule #1 of Ms. Davis’ classroom: “NO usage of the word CAN’T…PERIOD.” I want my students to understand that they can eliminate the obstacles by simply saying they CAN. My students will easily become leaders in the classroom and in their communities because they will have the courage to overcome obstacles. The “I CAN” mentality will be encouraged in all aspects of my students educational experience after they step foot through the class door. That confidence will be reinforced by my own leadership among my peers and in my community.
As a teacher, I will transform my students’ learning experience. I thought the purpose of a teacher was to help students learn information. Recently, I have come to a pivotal point in my life where I believe that having students regurgitate facts can no longer make an effective school system. What brought me to this realization was when my nine year-old sister mentioned that she had spent a class period surfing the internet.%2
